Our approach

From the first call to industrial-ready process

01

Diagnosis

We get your material, your goal (adhesion, wettability, deposition) and your production constraints.

Within 48 h
02

Validation

We treat your parts at our facilities, characterize the surfaces (contact angle, surface energy, effect duration) and document the process.

03

Integration

We integrate the equipment into your production line and tune the parameters until the process is optimized and ready for industrial throughput.

Why Kalego

Atmospheric plasma, made in Canada

Atmospheric pressure plasma

No vacuum chamber, no costly pumps. Drop-in integration on your existing production lines, continuous treatment of large surfaces.

Designed and built in North America

Conception, assembly and after-sales support all happen here. Our team travels directly to your assembly lines to help install and stays available for the long haul. You talk to the engineers and researchers behind your equipment, not to a call center on the other side of the world.

Twenty years of expertise

Twenty years of plasma expertise, driven by a multidisciplinary team well beyond just the founders. Physicists, chemists, process engineers, mechanics and specialized technicians work together on every project. The diversity of skills is what makes the quality of the solutions we deliver.

R&D partnership, not just a piece of equipment

From diagnosis to scale-up, our team travels to your assembly lines to integrate and calibrate the process on-site. Once you're in production, our after-sales service stays available to optimize, troubleshoot and evolve your installation. You leave with a partner, not just a box.

Frequently asked questions

Before you write to us

Answers to the questions we get most often. If yours isn't here, drop us a line — we reply to every request within 48 business hours.

Is my material compatible with plasma?
The vast majority of polymers, metals, glasses and composites can be treated with DBD plasma. The cleanest way to know for sure is to send us a description of your part and your goal. We come back with a first assessment and, if needed, treat a sample at our facilities.
How do I know if plasma will solve my adhesion or fogging issue?
Plasma is particularly effective on problems tied to low surface energy, residual contamination, or the need for hydrophilic functionalization. Our diagnosis step qualifies your case before any investment.
How long to integrate a reactor into my line?
Lead time depends on the integration's complexity. For a standard reactor, plan on roughly 1 to 3 months between order and commissioning. For a custom reactor, the schedule is set during design and locked in with the specification document.
Can you treat my parts before I purchase equipment?
Yes. Our Quebec City facilities let you treat your parts as a service, while you validate the process and build your qualification file. It's often the best way to start a project without committing to a capital investment.
How long does the plasma treatment effect last?
The surface activation effect ages over time, at a rate that depends on the material, storage environment and the process itself. For a durable effect, we combine activation and the deposition of a functional layer. The exact duration is characterized on your parts during the validation step.
What documentation do you provide for my customer audits?
Each project is delivered with a documented process file: plasma parameters, characterization methods, validation results and operating procedures. For regulated markets (medical, food), we adapt the documentation level to your sector's requirements.
What does a plasma project at Kalego cost?
Costs vary with complexity (standard or custom reactor, in-line integration, required documentation level). We provide a quoted estimate after the diagnosis step, with no commitment from your side.
