How Much Does an Inline Atmospheric Plasma System Cost?

The short answer

The price of an inline plasma system depends on six factors: the area to treat, line speed, level of automation, part geometry, integration into your line and process development. At Kalego Solutions, a manufacturer in Quebec City (Canada), every configuration is quoted on your case, with no commitment. Plan for about 1 to 3 months from order to commissioning for standard equipment. The first evaluation is free, and toll treatment avoids any purchase for small runs.

Six factors set the price

The area to treat

A precise zone is treated with a torch, with 1 to 3 nozzles. A full width needs a curtain from 60 to 500 mm, whose power rises with width, from 1 to 6 kW.

Line speed

The faster the line, the more power or parallel sources you need to keep a complete treatment in a single pass.

Level of automation

Manual station, mounting on your robot, or an enclosed cell with a 1 to 4 axis Cartesian robot: each level adds hardware and safety.

Part geometry

A flat surface is treated as it passes. A 3D part needs a trajectory, so programmed motion.

Integration into your line

Communication with your PLC (RS485, TCP-IP, Modbus), standalone touchscreen or OEM version, single-phase or three-phase power.

Process development

A custom reactor includes the R&D your application requires. Adding modules to an existing reactor costs less.

In operation, plasma uses electricity and air

An atmospheric plasma system has no primer to rebuy, no drying oven and no solvent to capture. Its cost items are electricity, process gas, extraction and electrode maintenance.

Three ways to reduce risk before investing

Start with the free evaluation

Within 48 business hours you know whether plasma is the right answer, before spending anything.

Have your parts toll-treated

For small runs, or while qualifying the process, our Quebec City facility treats your parts with no equipment purchase.

Rent to validate on site

The torch, the curtain and the cell can be rented for a trial on your own line.

Common questions about budget

Why don’t you publish prices?

Because no two lines need the same configuration: area to treat, line speed, automation and integration all change the price. A figure shown without knowing your case would be misleading; we quote your configuration after the free evaluation, with no commitment.

Does the price include process development?

The reactor is tuned to your material and line speed, and every prototype is tested on your parts before delivery. When your application needs more R&D, the price rises accordingly, and the quote details it.

How long does it take to receive a system?

About 1 to 3 months from order to commissioning for standard equipment. For a custom reactor, the schedule is set at the design stage and refined with the specifications.

Can I rent before buying?

Yes, for some equipment: the compact plasma torch, the plasma curtain and the turnkey cell can be rented for a trial on your line.

What costs should I expect after purchase?

Electricity, compressed air or nitrogen, extraction and electrode maintenance. Each custom reactor has its own maintenance and support program for its whole service life.

Is the equipment made in Canada?

Yes. Kalego Solutions designs, builds and tests its equipment in Quebec City. Prices are set in Canadian dollars.

How much does an evaluation cost?

Nothing. The first evaluation of your case is free with no commitment, with a reply within 48 business hours.
